In 2019, I was one of ten painters selected for the annual Mark Rothko Symposium and residency at the Mark Rothko Center in Daugavpils, Latvia. The residency culminated in an exhibition at the Rothko Museum, and three of my paintings were included in its permanent collection.

"My pictures are indeed facades. Sometimes I open one door, one window or two doors and two windows... There is more power in telling little than telling all".

I am inspired by the work of Rothko, particularly his immersive color fields and simplified geometry. During the residency, I referenced the colors and architecture of Daugavpils. I was reading writings by Rothko and was inspired by his comment, "My pictures are indeed facades. Sometimes I open one door, one window or two doors and two windows... There is more power in telling little than telling all".
